Çankırı Karatekin University Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations carries out undergraduate education and training activities.

In our department, there are 7 academic staff including 2 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 1 Lecturer and 1 Research Assistant.

Our main goal as a department is to facilitate our students to have knowledge in the field of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations and to adapt to the ever-changing global and national conditions in order to improve themselves.

Graduation

Students of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations can graduate if they complete 240 (successful) ECTS during their undergraduate education.

Students of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations must first be successful in all compulsory courses of the department. You must choose 30 ECTS compulsory courses each semester.

You can choose courses from the elective course pool of the department, the elective course pool of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and the elective course pool of the University.

Students of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations can graduate if they are successful in the courses they choose.

The diploma of the graduated students includes the phrase Graduate of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations.

Students who meet the graduation requirements can get their diplomas by contacting ÇAKÜ Student Affairs Department at the end of the completion of their procedures.

Employment

Employment opportunities for graduates of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations are wide. Graduates of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations have the opportunity to work in many areas of the public and private sectors. Graduates of the department work in affiliated organizations, especially the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. Graduates of the department can be employed as inspectors, auditors, consultants, expert personnel and research assistants in various public institutions and organizations such as provincial directorates of Ministries, Social Security Institution (SSI), Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), Labor and Social Security Inspection Board Presidencies, Labor and Social Security Research Center (ÇASGEM), State Planning Organization, Revenue Administration, Universities. Graduates can work as experts and senior managers at various levels of trade unions and conduct research and studies on labor market, labor legislation, collective bargaining and trade unionism, and develop proposals for collective bargaining. In addition, graduates can work as experts in wage policies, individual and collective labor law and social security law in relation to the detailed courses they take.  Our graduates can work in the International Labor Organization (ILO), which operates under the United Nations, and other international organizations. Our graduates can also work in areas where graduates of other departments within the FEAS can work.  Graduates of the department can be employed as Human Resources Specialists in Human Resources departments in the private sector and in different positions in the banking and finance sector. 

 

Knowledge of important exams that will facilitate employment

In order to be employed in public institutions, it is necessary to be successful in the KPSSB or KPSSA group exams, which are primarily taken into account in public personnel recruitment. Direct appointment is made with the score obtained from the KPSSB group. However, those who expect to be appointed with the score from the KPSSA group must get the score determined by the institution and must also be successful in the internal exams determined by the institutions.  For those who want to work as academic staff in universities, it is necessary to be successful in one of the language exams that can be equivalent to ALES, YDS or YDS.  Apart from these, there are exams determined by banks in personnel recruitment.  For those who want to work in the private sector, it is necessary to comply with the criteria determined by the private sector.

Activities

Every student enrolled in the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations has the right to participate in social activities that are not related to the curriculum. At Çankırı Karatekin University, there are symposiums, congresses, conferences, panels, interviews, documentary and film shows, research and technical trips, and social responsibility projects created for students. Fee for Tuition

In the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, there is no tuition fee for undergraduate education for citizens of the Republic of Turkey (except for foreign students).

Education

The undergraduate education of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations is 4 years and eight semesters. The department does not have a second education. In the first year of undergraduate education, foreign language preparatory education is optional.   You can check the Bologna information system https://bbs.karatekin.edu.tr/bolumDetay.aspx?bkod=07&fkod=05 to access the undergraduate course contents of the department.   Department courses are held in the classrooms in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and, when necessary, in the computer laboratories in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

INTERNSHIP

There is no compulsory internship for the students of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations. However, students who want to do voluntary internships can do internships in areas where they can be employed. Transportation

The Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations is located in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in Uluyazı Campus of Fatih Mahallesi in Çankırı city center.  Transportation to Uluyazı campus is carried out regularly by public transportation vehicles of Çankırı Municipality. The campus can be reached directly from the city center and student dormitories.

 

Dormitory Facilities

Students of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations can stay in the dormitories of the Credit Dormitories Institution in Çankırı Center.  There are also hotels or private dormitories. Scholarship

Students of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations can apply for scholarships and loans provided by the Credit and Dormitories Institution when they start their undergraduate education. They can also receive scholarship support from the municipalities where they reside, professional chambers and other scholarship-granting public and private institutions.

Part Time Work

Students enrolled in the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations can apply for part-time work in different units of our university since the beginning of the academic year. Part-time working wages and conditions are announced on the web page at the beginning of each semester by the Department of Health, Sports and Culture.
